REMINDERS
Parent Coffee- TOMORROW!

All parents are welcome to join Assistant Principal Vitolo tomorrow for a coffee and presentation!

Come learn about MTSS, a multi-tiered system of support for ALL students. It's a framework our schools use to give targeted support to students in order to meet grade level standards.

After various cycles of targeted intervention, if a student does not make adequate progress, it may lead to a referral for special education. Assistant Principal Vitolo will shed some light on the support and services we provide here in Greenwich.

Set Your Dismissal for Spring Afters!

If your child is enrolled in Afters, it is very important to make sure his/her dismissal is set up correctly.  Below are instructions on how to set up a Recurring Dismissal Exception for Spring Afters which run until 6/12/23.

How to Set a Recurring Dismissal Exception:

Recurring Dismissal Exceptions: If your child has a temporary, recurring dismissal exception such as Afters, when looking at the two week calendar, click the Recurring Dismissal Instructions located at the top of the screen and fill out the details as required. You can enter up to three days at a time. There are no Afters classes on Early Release Days. Once the recurring plan has been entered, you will need to go back in and cancel the Early Release Days. To do this, at the bottom of the two week calendar select Set Dismissal Instructions for a Future Date. Choose the date on the calendar and cancel the Afters. This will return your student(s) to their default plan.

The difference between a Recurring Dismissal Exception and a Weekday Default Dismissal is that recurring has a start and end date because it is a temporary dismissal which occurs regularly on a specific day of the week for the entire school year. When the session is over, your student(s) will return to their default plan.

If you have any questions, or need help setting up a recurring plan, please don't hesitate to reach out to Carole Rende:  carole_rende@greenwich.k12.ct.us

TAW Sheets for Teachers

Teacher Appreciation sheets were sent home with students last week. Please have students decorate one for their homeroom teacher and at least one more for a “specials” teacher or an office staff member!  We will be decorating the teachers' doors with these beautiful posters.  If you did not receive them, click HERE for the K-2nd sheet, or HERE for the 3rd-5th sheet.

We are also asking for donations (suggested $10/child) to put toward the cost of a week's worth of gifts/treats for our teachers to show our appreciation for them.

Please be sure to place the sheets and donations in an envelope and address to Glenville PTA Hospitality, TAW. If you prefer Venmo, please send money to @glenvilleschool-pta.

Please return these items no later than Thursday, April 27.

WHAT'S NEW FROM PTAC
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee
April 2023 is Heritage Month

April continues the celebration and recognition of National Deaf History Month and Ramadan.

April is also Arab American Heritage Month, World Autism Day and Diversity Month. Passover, Easter, and Ramadan are important holidays in the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim religions that are all celebrated during April.

Check out all the information about April Heritage Month, Diversity Month, children's books ideas, events and more!

Green Schools Committee
Earth Month- April 1st- April 30th

This year's celebration of Earth Day emphasizes the need for greater sustainability across the globe.  The Greenwich Conservation Commission, Green Schools, and the Greenwich Country Day School are collaborating in an "all schools" Earth Month celebration this April 2023.  We urge you to join us in this historic educational Earth Month of Action!

~ Battery Drive ~

This is your last week to bring in your used batteries for us to collect and recycle. Battery drop-off will be in the Main Office for the entire month of April. When batteries are placed in landfills and incinerators, heavy metals end up in our water and air.  Small steps like recycling batteries can make a big difference!  Let's get started!

Academic Excellence Committee

For those of you who were unable to attend this month's PTAC Academic Excellence presentation, "Catching Up With GPS Science: That NGSS Test, Student Experiences & Jr. Innovators Update," or for those attendees who would like to review the presentation again, you will find everything you need on the PTAC web page under "Council Resources" - https://www.greenwichschools.org/community-ptac/ptac/resources.  All Academic Excellence workshops and ancillary materials are posted for parents on the PTAC web page for your future reference and convenience.

Who Are Your PTAC Reps?

Find your PTAC Reps HERE. If you have any questions regarding their positions or areas they represent, please feel free to reach out to them! We thank them for representing Glenville and informing us of all the updates!
