Deadline to Order Teddy Bear Workshop Kits is TOMORROW!

Our school is holding a FUNDRAISER selling Teddy Bear Workshop Kits. The kids will have a blast stuffing their very own cute and cuddly animals! Kits are $25 each and should arrive prior to Spring Break. Glenville will receive 45% profit for each item sold. We will reach our fundraising goal if each student shares the fundraiser with at least three supporters. See below for more details or click HERE to print the order form. Please return order forms to your classroom teacher by March 6th (TOMORROW).

Award-winning author Marc Tyler Nobleman is speaking at Glenville school on March 8! Marc will talk about his work, “The Chupacabra Ate the Candelabra” for grades K-2 and will discuss “The Language of Cartoons” with our students in grades 3-5.

Happy International Women's Day!

March 8th is International Women’s Day. The theme for 2023 is Embracing Equity with the focus on gender equity.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Marked annually on March 8th, International Women's Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to:

● celebrate women's achievements

● educate and awareness raise for women's equality

● call for positive change advancing women

● lobby for accelerated gender parity

● fundraise for female-focused charities

Happy Holi!

Holi is known as the Festival of Spring or the Festival of Colors and will be celebrated on March 8th. The great Indian festival lasts for a day and a night, which starts in the evening of Purnima or the Full Moon Day in the month of Falgun. It is celebrated with the name Holika Dahan or Choti Holi on the first evening of the festival and the following day is called Holi. The ritual starts by lighting up the bonfire one day before the day of Holi and this process symbolizes the triumph of good over the bad.

Holi is primarily observed in India, Nepal and other regions of the world with significant Hindu populations. It has spread to other parts of the world as a spring celebration of love, playfulness and colors. Traditionally the festival involves the playful throwing of colorful powders and colored water accompanied by devotional song and dance. It commemorates the divine play between Supreme Lord Krishna and His eternal consort Radha, the Supreme Goddess of grace and compassion. Dancing for D.C.- March 8th

The Greenwich Alliance for Education and the 8th Grade DC Trip Fundraising Committee invite you to Dancing for DC, an event to benefit the 8th Grade Washington DC Trip Fund. Please join us Wednesday, March 8 from 6-9pm at the Old Greenwich Social Club for dancing and live music by local band The Tide. Cash bar and food available for purchase. Ticket sales directly fund our effort for this year and beyond; the Old Greenwich Social Club will also donate 10% of all food and beverage sales that evening.

Tickets are $50 per entry and must be purchased in advance HERE.

We also have an exciting RAFFLE with prizes from your favorite local merchants. You do not need to purchase event tickets or be present at the event to win! Raffle tickets can be purchased HERE.

St. Patrick's Day Parade- March 19th

The Greenwich Hibernian Association is sponsoring their annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade March 19th at 2pm. The parade will form at Greenwich Town Hall at 101 Field Point Road and march down Greenwich Avenue. It is a fun and festive day for all!

Plunge for Elodie- April 2nd

The Greenwich Community will once again be plunging on April 2nd in Old Greenwich at Lucas Point Beach to find a cure for Riverside kindergartener Elodie Kubik who suffers from a rare disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa ("EB"). Children who suffer from EB are often called butterfly children because their skin is as fragile as butterfly wings. There are no approved treatments for this disease and EB patients currently have a life expectancy of 30. Please join Elodie's friends and family to fund important research, change the treatment paradigm for this disease and save lives. Visit plungeforelodie.org to learn more about the event. GEMS Kids Triathlon- June 11th

The Third annual GEMS Kids Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 11th, 2023. The event format will be pool swim, on-campus bike course, and on-campus run course. There will be four age groups from 6 to 14 years old. We will have participation awards, T-shirts, goody bags, and age-group awards.
