Happy Holi

Holi is known as the Festival of Spring or the Festival of Colors and will be celebrated on March 8thThe great Indian festival lasts for a day and a night, which starts in the evening of Purnima or the Full Moon Day in the month of Falgun.   It is celebrated with the name Holika Dahan or Choti Holi on the first evening of the festival and the following day is called Holi. The ritual starts by lighting up the bonfire one day before the day of Holi and this process symbolizes the triumph of good over the bad.

Holi is primarily observed in India, Nepal and other regions of the world with significant Hindu populations. It has spread to other parts of the world as a spring celebration of love, playfulness and colors.  Traditionally the festival involves the playful throwing of colorful powders and colored water accompanied by devotional song and dance. It commemorates the divine play between Supreme Lord Krishna and His eternal consort Radha, the Supreme Goddess of grace and compassion. For more information about Holi, including great recipes, songs and activities, please go to:  https://www.holifestival.org/
