Afters start this week!

Fall enrichments with Greenwich After School @ Glenville includes classes ranging from music, art, science, theater, sports, and more!  

Classes are offered Monday to Friday, September 19 through December 22. Classes are held at Glenville School, from dismissal until 4:20 pm. 

It's not too late to join! Rolling registration is open throughout the session (late fee may apply).

Picture Day is Wednesday, September 28

Pick out your finest outfit, straighten that bowtie or grab your coolest clothes! It’s PICTURE DAY at Glenville! 

Picture day will take place outdoors, weather permitting. All students will have individual pictures taken and be included in the class photo! Place your order online here - see directions below.

Who Are Your PTAC Reps?

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

September 15 marked the beginning of Hispanic Heritage month. The theme for this year’s celebration is Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation. We encourage you to follow this link to the Parent Teacher Advisory Council (PTAC) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion website for book recommendations and calendar events throughout town. We’d like to highlight some of the events below:

Athena Books is hosting a discussion with Carmen Rita Wong, author of the new book “Why Didn’t You Tell Me?” on Sept. 20 at 6:30 PM. Details are here.

WPKN is sponsoring a Hispanic Heritage film series for all ages at the Bijou Theater in Bridgeport. Details to purchase tickets are here.

Greenwich Boys and Girls Clubwebsite features ways to celebrate Hispanic and Latino heritage month with kids.

AROUND TOWN
Register. Vote. Let your voice be heard.

On Tuesday, Sept 20, the League of Women Voters Greenwich will mark National Voter Registration Day with community-wide voter registration activities. To join the celebration:

Register to VOTE. U.S. citizens who are 18 years of age on or before November 8, 2022, are eligible to vote in this year’s election. 

Confirm your voter registration status. If you’ve recently moved or married, or if you haven’t voted in the last several elections, you may need to re-register and confirm your polling location. 

Request an Absentee Ballot.  Applications for Absentee Ballots can be requested by visiting the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall or by calling 203-622-7897 or downloading from the website. Completed ballots must be received by November 8. 

Audubon Hawk Watch Weekend

When: Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Where: Greenwich Audubon Center (613 Riversville Rd, Greenwich, CT, 06831)

Learn all about the amazing birds of prey that migrate through Connecticut each year through workshops, live raptor presentations, and by taking part in our annual Hawk Watch. See further details and purchase tickets here

Bright Star Children's Theatre: Friend Request

When: Saturday, October 1, 1 pm and 4 pm
Where: Greenwich Library Berkley Theater 

Are you a kid in grades 4 - 8 who has a phone, wants a phone, or knows someone with a phone? Then this live performance is for you! Join the Friends of Greenwich Library to have fun with social media, Internet safety, and most importantly, learn how to build positive relationships online and in real life. Performances are free; registration opens 9/12. Sign up here.

Abilis Walk/Run

When: Sunday, October 16 (Registration opens at 7:30 am)

Where: Greenwich Point Park (Tod’s Point) in the Clambake Area

Abilis, a leader in serving the disability community in lower Fairfield County, provides services and supports for more than 800 individuals with disabilities and their families. Funds raised from the 17th annual Walk/Run for Abilis will support all of Abilis’ programs and services.

Greenwich Land Trust GO WILD!

When: Sunday, October 16, 2 to 5:30 pm
Where: Greenwich Polo Club

Is your child looking for fun and outdoor adventure? Have them come join Scouting! The Greenwich Council Boy Scouts of America has access to over 150 acres at Camp Seton where we’ll host a Fall Festival in October. Hikes, campouts and the pinewood derby all await.
